PalPile provides steel tubes and pipes for a wide range of groundworks, road, maritime and hydraulic construction projects throughout Europe and beyond. Our diverse inventory includes seamless, longitudinally welded, ERW welded, and spirally welded pipes in various diameters, wall thicknesses and lengths. This extensive selection allows us to promptly meet customer preferences and requirements, facilitating quick deliveries from stock.
PalPile supplies steel tubes compliant with DIN, NEN, or API standards. Upon request, we can provide any quality from stock or production, complete with CE marking. We handle steel grades up to X100, S555, or L555. Typically, steel pipes are delivered with a EN10204-3.1/3.2 certificate or a material analysis EN10204-2.1 certificate. Our inventory includes a broad range of pipes, available as new, second choice, or used.
To obtain substantial weight savings, pipes of variable thickness and diameter are welded together to meet the variable strength (Wx) and stiffness (Ix) requirements along the length of the steel pile.
Longitudinally welded pipes are the most common for this application as the material gains are the highest for heavy wall pipes.
The pipes with variable wall thickness are frequently used for mooring piles, piles protecting against ship collision, wind turbines and support structures/foundations in (offshore) maritime construction.
LSAW (Longitudinally Submerged Arc Welded) pipes are welded along the length of the pipe and can be manufactured in two distinct methods, each offering its own set of advantages and limitations.
In the first production method, a coil is used. The coil is unrolled and folded widthwise to create a circular shape. Subsequently, the seam is welded, forming a “longitudinal seam” along the entire length of the pipe. This continuous process continues until the coil is fully unwound, making it suitable for standard diameters and thicknesses.
The second production method involves using steel plates, the plates are rolled into a pipe shape tailored to the customer’s project specifications. These pipes are welded along the length of the pipe. Due to the limited length of separately produced pipes – caused by the limited plate width – they are joined together using a round seam. This method is suitable for projects that require thick-walled pipes.
Applications include piles, bored piles, mooring posts/fenders, jetties, and piping.
Seamless steel pipes are manufactured without any weld or seam. This characteristic makes seamless pipes particularly suitable for high-pressure projects, ideal for applications with stringent demands.
The production process involves heating a steel billet to elevated temperatures in an oven, enabling the creation of a cylindrical hollow. This hollow is formed using a rotary piercer and rollers.
Seamless pipes find prominent use in machine/equipment construction, the petrochemical industry, shipbuilding, structural engineering, high-pressure cylinders, and the automotive industry.
SSAW (Submerged Spiral Arc Welded) steel pipes are characterized by a welding seam that follows a spiral pattern across the pipe. The process involves unrolling a coil and shaping it into a spiral to create the pipe, followed by continuous spiral welding until the coil is completely unwound. This production method is particularly well-suited for larger projects involving extensive quantities, long pipes, and relatively thin wall thicknesses (<28,0 mm).
Spirally welded pipes are highly suitable for various applications such as combined retaining walls, jetties, outrigger pipes, mooring posts, piles protecting against ship collision, and support structures/foundations in (offshore) maritime construction.
In a rapidly evolving world with a strong emphasis on reducing CO2 emissions, PalPile strives to stay ahead by offering smart steel solutions. Our tailor-made, in-house produced steel products are crafted to meet the specific needs of each project, ensuring the most suitable solutions for our customers. Coupled with our latest sustainable developments, we deliver steel products that require less material or utilize recycled steel, while still meeting the exact demands and specifications of our customers.
